On September 28, International Right to Know Day is celebrated worldwide. Freedom of information is one of the fundamental rights that should not be violated.
September 28 was solemnly proclaimed by representatives of NGOs from all over the world in Sofia as the International Right to Know Day. After that in many countries throughout the world TV, press, radio and other media outlets are broadly used for raising public awareness and promoting the fundamental right; different events are held.
It must be noted that the celebration of September 28 has been marked in Georgia since 2005 by various events. By drawing public attention to problems that prevailed throughout the year and presenting public with FOI researches, GYLA annually celebrates the International Right to Know Day.
