The Gori office of the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association provided legal assistance to an IDP family from Tskhinvali who was denied state housing. The IDP family has won the dispute in court of all three instances and was eventually given a residential house.
The family has been denied to be provided by housing in 2018. The refusal order was appealed in court with the help of GYLA, requesting that it be annulled and granted housing. In the course of the trial, it was confirmed that the respondent administrative body had improperly assessed the living conditions of the IDPs, thus preventing the IDPs from being provided with adequate housing by the state. The decision of the court underscored the obligation of the administrative body to substantiate its decision based on a thorough study of the issue and conclusive evidence.
