On 17 July 2019, International Day of Justice, five member-organizations of the Georgian Coalition for International Criminal Court will present a special report - "Ten Years After the August War: Victims of the Situation in Georgia".
The report aims at informing the public about the investigation regarding the situation in Georgia conducted by the International Criminal Court and the condition of victims ten years after the August 2008 war. The report also reflects the current socio-economic situation of the victims ten years after the August 2008 war.
For the purpose of the report, 2400 IDP families living in 36 IDP settlements throughout Georgia were interviewed. Most of the IDPs interviewed live in special cottages built by the state and international organizations after the August 2008 war on the territory of a former training facility and / or military unit.
The report revealed that IDPs still cope with difficult socio-economic conditions ten years after the resettlement. IDPs’ problems are identical irrespective of where they are settled. The most hardship is caused by unbearable living conditions, lack of jobs and the inability to engage in agricultural activities.
