Nona Kurdovanidze was elected as the Chairwoman of GYLA by the Board on December 19, 2022.

Nona had been in charge of the Legal Aid Program since March 2019 and has been a member of the GYLA Board of Directors since then. She was also elected by the Board as the deputy Chair in 2018-2020.

Nona has worked with the Georgian Young Lawyers Association since 2009, serving as a lawyer and coordinator for projects related to IDP rights and rights of torture victims.

As an attorney of general specialization since 2009, Nona has personally advocated for over 100 cases in common courts and administrative bodies. She is also the author or co-author of up to 10 research studies covering topics such as justice, legislation on administrative offenses, ill-treatment, the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, the state policy concerning IDPs, and the right to proper housing.

Nona has attended various conferences and study programs, including the GMF, Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (2019), the Sakharov Program for Human Rights Defenders (2020), the John Smith Fellowship Program (2018), the International Visitor Leaders Program (IVLP 2014), and the Central European University Summer School (2017).

Nona Kurdovanidze holds a Master's degree in Law and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Russian Studies at Tbilisi State University. Her research interests include Russia's energy resources, transit routes, and security issues in the South Caucasus region.
