GYLA Calls upon MIA to Reveal Identity of Individuals Sentenced for the June 15 Incident

On June 16, 2009 Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) applied to the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia (MIA) and on the basis of freedom of information Chapter requested disclosure of identity of those individuals who, as deputy minister of interior affairs Eka Zguladze clarifies, were imposed disciplinary punishments for the incident that occurred on June 15, 2009 outside the Tbilisi police headquarters.

Georgian Young Lawyers Association of Georgia presented its opinion on the Draft Laws of Georgia on Making Changes and Amendments in the Law of Georgia on Meetings and Manifestations, the Law of Georgia on Police, and the Code of Administrative Offences of Georgia to the Legal Issues Committee and Human Rights Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.

Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association requests starting of criminal case against the policemen who participated in the event of June 15, 2009

Today the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association applied to the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia with the request to initiate a criminal case against those employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who participated in the incident of June 15, 2009 on the fact of raid of demonstrators and beatings executed against those detained in the temporary detention facility.
