The Central Election Commission of Georgia launches a pilot project “Electoral Development Schools 2015”. 17-25 years old youth will have an opportunity to undergo the learning course and obtain knowledge on electoral issues during July 13 - 24.

The pilot project of the Electoral Development Schools is implemented by the CEC and the Training Centre, in cooperation with the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association (GYLA) and International Foundation of Electoral Systems (IFES) and with the financial support of the Council of Europe (CoE) and US Agency for International Development (USAID).

At the Electoral Development Schools participants will receive knowledge on election related issues including: election systems, election administration, democratic electoral principles, elective bodies in Georgia, electoral stakeholders, transparency of elections and election accessibility, gender equality and etc.

The project implementation will increase civil engagement and contribute to the promotion of electoral issues among youth. “The CEC Election Development Schools” also aims at expansion and will cover the whole Georgia. The project will give election administration representatives an opportunity to share their professional experience with more youth.

The CEC Electoral Development Schools will be opened in 10 election districts – Telavi, Sighnaghi, Akhaltsikhe, Marneuli, Gori, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti and Batumi. District Election Commission members will conduct the trainings.

In order to apply for the course, applicants should fill an application form and submit it to any District Election Commission from July 1 until July 8. The applicants should present IDs while submitting the application form.
