The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association held a conference on 31 May 2016 under financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands: “Undertakings established with state participation - practice existing in Georgia and international experience”.
The following presentations have been delivered at the conference:
- Fighting corruption through the increase of the transparency and accountability of state expenses. Review of international experience of public undertakings, models of management and strategies contributing to the reduction of corruption (Kevin R. Smith, an expert invited by GYLA);
- Undertakings owned by self-governing cities of Georgia - issues of transparency and accountability (GYLA);
- Undertakings established with state participation (National Agency of State Property);
- Results of the audit of the efficiency of public undertakings - challenges and recommendations (State Audit Service);
- Croatian anti-corruption programme for undertakings established with state participation (GYLA).
The research and presentations delivered at the conference were mostly focused on the issues of transparency and accountability of legal entities of entrepreneurial law established by the State/self-government, as well as on the vision and attitude of respective competent administrative authorities, which will basically shape further development and determine activities of legal entities of entrepreneurial law established by the State/self-government.
GYLA plans to continue activities related to this topic. GYLA is actively involved in the activities of various inter-agency councils/forums, the area of interest of which are the issues of transparency and accountability of legal entities of entrepreneurial law established by the State/self-government. In addition, GYLA plans to present the research to interested groups from self-governing cities of Georgia and to respective administrative authorities, which is related to the issues of transparency and accountability of legal entities of entrepreneurial law established by the State/self-government.
