One-year Monitoring Results of Anti-discrimination Law Execution
On July 29 'Coalition for Equality' presented one-year monitoring report on anti-discrimination law enforcement.
The report focuses on the activities that have been carried out for the improvement of anti-discrimination legislation and for its proper implementation from May 2014 to April 1, 2015.
Separate chapters of the report are devoted to the cases proceeded by member organizations of the coalition, to the Public Defender's achievements through the Law of Georgia on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination, as well as to the challenges, procedural peculiarities of the implementation of anti-discrimination legislation by the judicial authorities and proceedings in other administrative bodies. Final part of the report provides recommendations that will assist the state agencies in improving anti-discrimination measures.
The report has been prepared by member organizations of the Coalition for Equality, on the basis of complaints submitted to the Public Defender's Office, court cases, final and interim decisions of the Public Defender and General Court, analysis of public information materials obtained from the Public Defender's Office.

Information on the Coalition:
Coalition for Equality has been established with the support of Open Society Georgia Foundation and it unites five NGOs. The coalition aims at advancing implementation of the anti-discrimination law and monitoring its practical application.
From February 16, a hotline will be established through which citizens will be provided with free legal aid on issues related to discrimination.
Member NGOs of the coalition are: "Georgian Young Lawyers' Association", "Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center", "Sapari", "Article 42 of the Constitution" and "Identity".
