NGOs Met with Candidates of Public TV Director General

On August 4, on initiative of Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and Open Society Georgia Foundation, representatives of NGO sector, journalists and heads of media outlets in Georgia met with candidates of director general of public broadcaster.

Many interesting questions were asked, and frequently the questions were addressed to one of the candidates of director general, Giorgi Chanturia who is now serving as a deputy director general of public TV. Despite a number of request made, members of the public broadcaster’s board of trustees failed to attend the meeting.

11 candidates present at the meeting adopted a special appeal to the board of trustees, requesting allocation of public TV’s airtime to ensure public process of reviewing the candidates.

GYLA will submit the appeal to the office of public TV on August 5.
