Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary Hosts a Roundtable Discussion on the Third Wave of Judicial Reform
TBILISI – Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary is hosting a roundtable discussion on the Third Wave of Judicial Reform on July 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at the Holiday Inn Hotel. The meeting will bring together government and civil society stakeholders to discuss the draft laws that the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has recently submitted to the Parliament.
The representatives of Georgian Young Lawyers Association, Transparency International Georgia, Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center will present the Coalition’s views on draft changes to the legislation on common courts, High School of Justice, and judicial disciplinary process.
Representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the government as well as practicing lawyers, journalists, international donor organizations, and experts in the field are expected to attend. The Coalition unites 34 non-governmental organizations including legal professionals, business associations, and media organizations to promote an independent and transparent judiciary by monitoring relevant judicial practices and advocating for reforms.
The roundtable is supported by the U.S. Government through USAID’s Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia (PROLoG) activity, which is implemented by the East-West Management Institute.
